7 Tips to Help Plan Your Party

7 Tips to Help Plan Your Party
It can be extremely frustrating to come up with the perfect event or party plan for New York City. Sometimes the brain can only take so much before you want to give up entirely. When this happens and you can no longer brainstorm any new party ideas, try some of the following to rekindle that event-planning spark:
1. Stop and Do Something Else - Sometimes this is the only way to get back in your groove. Find something else that you love to do and take a big break on the planning. Meet with your friends, get out of the apartment-New York City has offers so many great things to do at all times. Do some household choirs, or take a long drive. Anything that will keep your mind off of the topic at hand in order to readily prep your return to the plan.
2. Be Social - We often let ourselves fall into the daily grind, and this is bad practice for creative thinking. You get used to the same flow of activity-wake up, go to work, go to bed and do it again. This can only hinder creativity. Luckily, you live in New York City! We have friends, family and co-workers to add excitement and change to our lives. Make use of the great connections that you have. Whether its to go out for a while to take a break, or to voice ideas and get feedback. They may even have the perfect idea that you wouldn't ever have dreamed of. Even though you are the party planner, it doesn't mean that those close to you can't help to enhance your plan.
3. Brainstorming - The ultimate tool for creative idea generation. If you are working alone, get a piece of paper and just start writing down every single little thought that comes into your head with regards to your event ideas. Do not hesitate to include unrelated thoughts as they can often to new ideas. Make sure that you do this in a comfortable setting-lounge in your favorite chair, sip on a nice cup of coffee, or play some soothing music. But remember, there is no such thing as a bad idea. No matter how dumb, stupid or silly you think something may sound, you never know what you will come up with.
4. Get Active - One of the best ways to get your brain working is to get your body and blood moving. Take a nice jog along the East River, or walk around the block. Go shopping in SoHo, or head to the gym for a quick workout. Perhaps call up some friends for a game of racquetball. Any and all activity is not only healthy for you, but will enhance your creative juices tenfold.
5. Don't Neglect Your Rest - Sleeping is one of the most healing processes we have. Take a quick nap, or get to bed early and push off your party planning til later. During sleep your mind and subconscious will be at work in a whole new way, and you may be very pleased to find out that you've got some great ideas awaiting you in the morning. At worst, you'll be well-rested and ready to tackle you planning on a full battery.
6. Inspiration - As with any creative work, a lot of times we just need some inspiration. Flip through some magazines, go for a walk in a public place, watch some television. Anything that can help spark new thoughts and ideas could certainly present you with a new and needed source of inspiration. The best part is that you'll never know what to expect, but you may just stumble upon the perfect idea for your party.
7. Take it to the Web - Ah, the internet. One of our greatest sources of knowledge and information. Hop on those search engines and see what others have done and what problems they are facing. Search for 'party themes,' 'party ideas' even 'party games.' You really can't go wrong. Perhaps you'll find some related forums where members are readily discussing their party planning adventures. Make use of the vast wealth of resources that internet has given us.
